Memories of You
Loving Memories
There is a silence tonight as I sit alone,
the cold winter winds chilling me to the bone!
I look up at the sky so dismal and grey,
trees heavy with snow no longer sway!
The pond is a cold mirror reflecting ice,
From a near by bakery smells of savory spice!
My mouth waters with eager anticipation,
my body in a draining, perpetual emancipation.
Ah, I say to myself, life is not so bad,
It doesn't have to be brutal and sad!
Just look on the bright side, the poets say,
and all your troubles will soon go away!
Not true my frozen brain does say,
for I am cold, lonely and hungry this day!
My only hope is the sun shining through,
And my sweet loving memories of you!
