[The following is a clear letter of purpose from the moderator of the group. It is provided here for both current and potential members who may want to join this group and help recruit new member citizens for Cybertown.-editor's note]
As the number of members in See-Cybertown Group continues to grow, it
makes sense to set down more formally the purposes of the group.
There are several purposes we hope to achieve in this group. We want
to provide a forum for new people to learn something about the people
they may be meeting in Cybertown. We hope to give them an easy way to
look at the various colonies and neighborhoods in Cybertown, to help
them decide which may best fit their personality.
One thing this group is NOT - it is NOT a replacement of Cybertown in
any form. Not for chat and not for Message Board type posting. This
group is for directing people from outside of Cybertown to use as a
stepping stone into CT.
Lastly, we also want to give them a place to gain access to the many
tools and resources we have each accumulated over our careers.
Cybertown Stories
We have all enjoyed Faces of Cybertown, which gives us a chance to
see pictures of the people we have met in town. One way to think of
this site is "People of Cybertown". One objective of See-Cybertown is
to give current residents a place to share who they are and what
Cybertown has meant to them. Besides giving each of us a chance to
learn more about those people we have been working with in Cybertown,
we can show prospective members a bit of how Cybertown has affected
each of us.
Colony Profiles and Neighborhood Profiles, Places and Groups
In Brief, this area could be considered a place to "Sell" your piece
of Cybertown. These sections permit the people active in those areas
to provide a prospective resident a quick description of what the
Colony or Neighborhood theme is and how it is implemented. It can
give some history of the location and the objective or way the theme
is meant be shown. If appropriate, you can also include the types of
activities which are normally presented and the way the staff can
help. In a similar manner, the Places and Groups give the people
involved there a chance to explain what they do and why they enjoy
spending their time working or playing there.
Links
The Links section provides a wealth of resources for both experienced
user and new immigrant alike. For a New Immigrant, the A Startup
Folder provides links to the programs necessary to get Cybertown to
run, Blaxxun Contact, and if necessary, the Sun Java Runtime.
Once past the initial entry of the program, the other links give a
myriad of resources and guides for both novice and old-timer alike.
Messages
The messages section is a way these resources can be shared with all
those who are members of the group. We realize there are numerous
methods for communication, and one of the best, we think, is
Cybertown. We encourage as much communication as possible be
contained within Cybertown, which is, after all, a premier Chat Site.
There are also many programs available for communicating with
individuals and groups, and rather using this group for broadcast of
announcements not related to its primary purpose, we encourage you to
use those other more focused resources.
The messages section will be trimmed from time to time to make it
easier for a new person to find the items we are hoping to provide.

from the messages I receive individually. Messages not directed to
the stated purpose of this group may be deleted at anytime.
