Spring
Deep and dark, the chill of the dampness creates a hunger for the light still yearned for by all of creation. It has been ages since the darkness fell. It feels as though it will be another eternity before growth begins.

But wait! Warmth--deep, penetrating warmth has spread above. I can feel the musty, humid earth around me warming. The dampness has a different sensation today. It is as though the golden orb had come to ground this very day and cast a warm glow all around. I can feel the hard, cold that has surrounded me these many weeks beginning to ebb. I feel warm...fluid and alive. Something is happening to me. I'm stretching, moving, bending every upward toward that glorious warmth and the promise of freedom. The bed I've been in since time began has been a wonderful comfort through these hard, cold months and I am grateful for the nourishment it always offers, but I am tired of my confines. I want to stretch out my tendril and embrace the beauty and colors above. I still remember that above is so much better than below. The earth's fragrance is beyond compare. I can just imagine it now. Oh, I can hardly wait for the soft drops of water to fall on my petals again...to feel the golden orb warming me and filling me with strength.

Wait a bit. Don't rush. There seems to be a chill again. Perhaps I have been too hasty. I'll wait just a bit longer to push any farther. Those nips of ice hurt ever so much.

Ahh, the warmth again. This time it feels deeper, more promising. I can't wait. I must push onward. I must...

Ooo! What was that? Brrr...it has been a while since I've felt that gentle movement upon my fringes but I can see the golden orb! It is so wonderful to feel the warmth and nourishment it offers. The brightness is wonderful after being so long in the dark. Oh my, that does feel wonderful on my sprout. I feel so springy...like everything inside me wants to hop out all at once. I'll just stretch out a bit and see what has happened over the past few months.

Tell me something's better,
Than a cool tall lemonade.
A picnic mess,
A floral dress,
And sitting in the shade.
The fog in the morning.
The daytime misty rain.
Scrambling bees,
Wavy trees,
Behind the window pane.
A flower learns to bloom,
A bird learns to fly,
Your eyes will catch,
Their colors match
The pre-dawn purple sky.
Driving with the top down,
Wind blown golden hair,
I must confess,
This feels the best,
Cause spring is in the air.
