CVN Interviews Flyby

RAC1 for CVN Weekly

With Mayor Flyby and his Deputy crashdummy, leaving their posts, I decided to catch up with him, to ask him a few questions about his career, and I was pleasantly, (or not so much, in one case) surprised with the results.

RAC1: So Mayor Flyby, what made you decide to resign as Cybertown mayor? I can imagine it is a big responsibility but is it not great to have so much power? :)

Mayor Flyby: I felt that it was time to 'pass the torch'. I have spent the last three years administrating to the needs of the community. I have always felt that a person should try to give back to his/her community more than what was taken and to attempt to make something better than when you found it.

Although I may have, at times, fallen short in that, I have done my best to help set up an online community whereby all people, regardless of where you come from or whatever the background, are equal.

To be completely honest, all of the guidelines and proposals that I have written that pertain to leadership were designed with my own demise as Mayor in mind. It would be hard to convince people of my sincerity about equality if the checks and balances were not placed on myself first.

RAC1: There are several candidates for the post of mayor and deputy once you and crashdummy have resigned - do you have a favourite who you would like to
succeed you?

Mayor Flyby: Yes.

RAC1:I was looking through old Cybertown magazines, and found Flyby's corner in most of the early ones. Shall this be back once you have left your post?

Mayor Flyby: You bet it will. I love to write. I will have more time to write about the humour I see in everyday life as well as virtual life.

Of course, I may have a few more things to add to the community such as proposals, guidelines and general things like that. ©¿©¬

RAC1: You have been mayor, the highest of Cybertown positions, and deputy of CVN. What's next?

Mayor Flyby: I look forward to contributing wherever I can. I believe that my record of contribution speaks for itself and as long as I am welcome, I will continue to assist in the growth and development of Cybertown. You have no idea how lucky I am to have made so many close and dear friends. I have never turned my back on that and I won't start that now. I also look forward to spending as much time with my friends online.

I'll also be able to pitch my tent in the City Park and clean up after parades.

RAC1: I noticed that you are past 25 000 experience points - can you give our
citizens any tips on reaching such a high milestone?

Mayor Flyby: Personally, I never gave points or money much thought but I can say this: Log on everyday, do the best you can in your job and never kick an ostrich while it’s laying an egg. ©¿©¬

RAC1: Your big retirement party is soon, what kind of a party piece can we expect?

Mayor Flyby: My hope is that it is a celebration of the Cybertown spirit. Not the end of something but the beginning of another era with all the eager anticipation of better things to come. The spirit of Cybertown is with me always and I believe that this spirit is with us all. None of us should ever feel intimidated by showing our love and loyalty to the community we live in.

RAC1: And finally, would you like to say a few words to the citizens of Cybertown?

Mayor Flyby: I am the luckiest guy in the world to have been your Mayor. All of the steps we have taken to assure a long and prosperous community would never have been possible without the support of the citizens of our beloved Cybertown. It is you, the proud citizens of Cybertown that I thank from the bottom of my heart.

Words alone cannot express just how deeply I admire and respect our citizens. It was this love that sustained me through all of the growing pains we, as a nation, have gone through and for that I owe the citizens of Cybertown an enormous debt of gratitude.
I truly am the luckiest guy in the world.

Thank You Mayor Flyby for your time, and effort.
