What happened to Cybertown?

RAC1 for CVN

I was wondering just what had happened in the time warp, and therefore decided to ask somebody. I caught up with Entertainment colony’s CD, Seina, to ask her a few questions about Cybertown’s sudden disappearance.

RAC1: Seina, Cybertown has had problems recently. First the time warp, then several small periods of time where it just wasn't there. Do we have an explanation for this?

Seina: I have been on vacation for two weeks, but what I have been informed about is this ... We switched servers. When this kind of change occurs and is not expected, sometimes there are kinks to work out and glitches in the time space continuum :-)

RAC1: I see, this all sounds very complicated, and indeed I can imagine that Cybertown is very complicated under its quite simple surface

Seina: Yes, it amazes me at what all a site like Cybertown entails just to keep us running and functioning properly. Someone or *lots* of someones are working very hard to give us Cybertown.

RAC1: A lot of people lost jobs, experience, cash, and objects recently bought. There have been complaints and there may be a blanket "gift" given out, is this true?

Seina: I have heard of the blanket [gift] for Exp points, but not items, actually the items are not lost; you just have to re-buy them. Yes, I know it may be a pain in the behind, but we are talking about Virtual items. We just have to have more fun chasing the items back down again. :-)

RAC1: But with cyber cash, any transactions, which took place before the time warp never, happened, right?

Seina: Yes, any CC transactions that took place, in effect never happened! Also if you bought a house say like the day before the crash and decorated it, when the time warp took place, your house reverted back to what you had May 25th, so your items are all cuckoo and your dogs out barking in the pool and your duck is on the roof, and your swords are in the tree which is in your tub :-)

RAC1: So, talking seriously the time warp happened because the CT servers crashed and had to use these backup files, right?

Seina: Yes, The only back up file was of the 25th of May and before, so that is the latest version the Techs had to use.

RAC1: Right, so that is a worst-case scenario, right?

Seina: Yep, seems to have happened to a lot of folks, from what I am hearing, at least anyone who bought a new home in that time frame.

RAC1: great, well finally, do you have any messages you would like to give to the citizens of Cybertown at this crucial stage in Cybertown history (time warp, election, etc.)?

Seina: yes I would like to say this:

Cybertown should be a place of positive intangibles where:

  • ü We should practice courtesy and concern for others

ü We know without question that each person has high worth and is a unique individual, possessing special talents and abilities, for a special purpose.

    ü Each individual is Important!

  • Cybertown is also a place where mistakes are made, where conflicts arise, and where behaviour, at times, may not always be pleasing. Yet because of that, it is a place of forgiveness, of saying, "I'm sorry", of learning from mistakes, of working together to overcome problems, of helping one another.

That is who we are.... and we are privileged to be a part of this community and honoured to be called Cytonians.
