Every now and then we find interesting, well written,(and it seems here) very honest, heartfelt perspctive worth sharing. We have been watching Beowulf42 on his solitary travels through Cybertown with great interest! We had requested the possible use of his writings at a time when it seemed unlikely we would use them, after reading them. Fortunately or lol unfortunately, we present his site and comments for your reactions Please let us know what you think by writing to Editorial Reactions. We don't expect publishing his words to affect his attitude or his choices as he continues to "play" in Cybertown. It would be cool if that happened.*grin*

While we at CVN respect his rights, and often disagree with his opinions, they are pretty much a common "rebel" view of Cybertown, in our view. Do we encourage this view? No. DeannaTroi speaks eloquently for the hope, dreams and joys we share. We have been literally given a wonderous 3D game/existence and possibility! We call it Cybertown. ~~jdb_educator

Here is a little of what Beowulf42 has to say (it IS taken out of context in the hopes you will be intrigued to see his pertspective):

"A second part of Troi's challenge is this: to tell people that have touched you in 3D World that you admire them or some claptrap like that. Again, it more of the sweetness and light hyperbole that really doesn't exist.

Troi writes:

'Words both heal and tear down. Reputations rise and fall by them. Words can be and too often are misspoken, misheard, misunderstood, and misused.LOL on the internet they are totally missed too! Use them effectively, and you communicate very clearly. Good words are often too rare!'

Yes, that is true. What is neglected, however, far too often in 3d World is the truth. Too often the truth is stifled because the powers that be simply won't let it out. They delete messages. They threatened with banishment. I do not dispute their right to do so. But it is still hogwash. The greatest words have torn down totalitarian governments. they brought about freedom. They brought about reform where reform was needed. Am I suggesting that 3D World is totalitarian? That they hinder reform? That they stifle the truth and freedoms? Damn right I am."

You can read his full and complete article at his site :Beowulf42 Here is his journal page should you like to read more about this interesting citizen from our fair Virtual City, Cybertown.

Once again Here is DeannaTroi With OUR view, and encouragement towards another VERY useful activity...

"Thanks For Giving" Challenges!

By DeannaTroi for CVN

Challenge 1

And thanks for the info on Polish Holidays..We will try to do something on that in a future issue, Beowulf42 :)

For the next two months, (at least) we charge you with the "Thanks for Giving" challenge. In my country (the US), in November (the third Thursday) we will have a time of "thanksgiving." Other countries? Share YOUR feasting, celebration date(s) with us here at CVN! Mail celebrations, dates and even stories to: CVN celebrations Perhaps we can write, or you can write an article informing citizens of those Holidays!

Our Thanksgiving is a time of reflection on the whole year and we try to feel thankfulness for what has been provided to each of us. (Well, and a lot of eating too… he he.. a VERY USA thing to do!). Our "dish to pass" at this table called Cybertown, is in the way we express ourselves. Since words ARE our nourishment, I declare a feast! (Pass the gravy!)

Challenge 2

Now that first challenge is an easy one. It is just for fun, sharing and communication! Here is where the REAL challenge comes in. This is serious, fun, rewarding and good for everyone from the unemployed to the "big bosses".

Is there anyone in CT that has touched your life? Made you laugh? Offered their virtual shoulder to let you cry upon? Trained you, adopted you, encouraged you? Well, we ask YOU to post or "inbox" them in Cybertown. If there is anyone in CT that you have admired and not been able to draw them into conversation or because you live in opposite or impossible time zones, just tell them so!

Got a problem with this? That would be sad to us. Words both heal and tear down. Reputations rise and fall by them. Words can be and too often are misspoken, misheard, misunderstood, and misused.LOL on the internet they are totally missed too! Use them effectively, and you communicate very clearly. Good words are often too rare!

Now, what if English is not your birth language? What if you struggle just to understand someone's post or online chat? We urge you simply to explain you are having trouble. Most people will "work "with you to help.

This is the bread, meat and drink of what Cybertown truly is. People, Chat and Communicating. Yes, we have way cool city of 3D worlds, buildings, bots and objects, … but CT is about the people. Real people building a community through words, code and files. Share those words of encouragement, and feed your CT neighbor! Make your list, check it twice and put a BIG "helping" of encouragement and appreciation on the plate of those you feel have touched your life in CT.
