New CERB Chief Interviewed
By jdb_educator

CVN had a delightful time interviewing Wovencroft, the New CERB chief, selected by the mayor and city council. The facts are simple. Our interviews are to provide interesting information and may be edited and corrected in spelling, grammar and typos. Incorrect information may be fixed or changed before publication. We are promoting and supporting Cybertown, so criticisms are kept to a minimum. Unlike the real world press we do not play "gotcha" games. As part of the interview we read him his "rights." Read on for the details of this delighfully informmative interview.

jdb_educator: Are you giving this CVN interview freely, without coercion, recognize that anything you say may be used, that you only have the right to correct/add/ or change the interview before published. Do you understand these rights as explained?

Wovencroft: Hmmmmmmmmmmm............... YIKES!
OK Sure.
jdb_educator & Wovencroft: lol (we laughed about the intro)

jdb_educator: Let's start out with: What IS CERB and why do citizens need it?

Wovencroft: Well C.E.R.B. is a lot of things. The initials stand for the Citizen's Equity Review Board. We are comprised of one citizen elected from each colony serving a one year term of office. The C.E.R.B. will provide mediation and judgment for conflicts and offenses, whereby affording all citizens the right to appeal a ban. Generally speaking, the C.E.R.B. will mediate a wide variety of appeals for both Criminal and Civil cases rendering a final judgment on the case. Areas of appeals/mediation include but are not limited to disputes involving a ban by Security (including CL's and CD's), labor/personnel disputes, missing or stolen objects from homes or backpacks, copyright infringement, slander or defamation of character, etc.

jdb_educator: Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you found Cybertown?

Wovencroft: OK, sure. Some friends came here from another site. We were all on, and sadly that closed down. They liked it here and suggested I come here and check things out. I did and I have been here ever since. I started out in SciFi colony, Legends hood. Was a BL there for awhile in Sherwood Forest, then came to Inner Realms as a BL for Camelot in Legend & Lore, was promoted to ND there. I submitted a proposal for Spirituality hood, was awarded NL of that hood. Moved to Adventure when it opened as a CD. Later I became CERB rep for Adventure Colony in hmmm August of last year (2089).

jdb_educator: How did you become CERB rep and Why?

Wovencroft: Every colony is supposed to have an election to provide a CERB representative. As Adventure was a brand new colony, we had not had that and when it was posted I felt like I could be of more help to the citizens of Adventure and Cybertown by becoming active with CERB, so I ran for the job and won…

jdb_educator: Do you feel you have helped citizens?

Wovencroft: Yes, I do think I have helped. I believe so. Not as much as I would like to, but within the current CERB guidelines and other city regulations such as the constitution. However CERB is more of a team effort than an "I" effort. And I would have a hard time explaining exactly how I have helped. Suffice it to say that when it is possible I, as a CERB rep., do all that I can to help.

jdb_educator: What does a CERB representative do?

Wovencroft: A CERB representative gathers together any information or documentation pertaining to a citizen's case. Any citizen may file using the case form at the CERB web site located at www.cybertowncerb.com .

We interview witnesses, gather evidence, as well as keeping in touch with the complainant so they know the status of their case. We meet, as a group, at least once a week and discuss the cases. We have a poll vote on them after all the evidence has been discussed. Once the poll is completed, we submit our findings to the Mayor for final approval and advise the complainant as well.

jdb_educator: How did you come to applying for the job as CERB Chief?

Wovencroft: An unfortunate incident led up to the position becoming open. The Chief at the time, waynewins, had some real life family issues come up and felt he could not devote enough time to the job so he resigned leaving the opening. I applied for the position as did others, was interviewed by LadyLiz and JJFridge and we all waited, somewhat nervously, for the final decision to be made.

jdb_educator: Now that you have been named CERB chief, What changes do you see?

Wovencroft: It is rather early for me to comment on any possible changes. C.E.R.B. has submitted an update to our guidelines to the Mayor prior to waynewins leaving. I will be meeting with LadyLiz and JJFridge to go over those in the very near future.

jdb_educator: Is there anything else you would like to tell Cybertown Citizens?

Wovencroft: Yes indeed, there are a few things. First off, know the rules as they apply here in Cybertown. There are many written documents detailing these rules, regulations, and procedures for almost everything. Links to these are always posted on the CVN Daily News. Additionally they are available on most colony message boards and several other web sites have links to them as does the information box in my house, Raven's Keep, which is in the Storm Chaser's Block in The Edge neighborhood of Adventure Colony. My door is always open and there is a "mailto" link on my 2D house that anyone can use. C.E.R.B. is here to help.
