Technology

If it wasn't for all those fantastic people working for Siemens, Sony, Panasonic etc, trying and persevering in new ways to make life easier for us, we could be as primitive as a snail. Everyone thought in the year 2000 all of a sudden Technology (lol, let's call it tech from know on okay?) would leap forward and become highly advanced. That seems not to be the case, as I wouldn't say tech has advanced much in the past decade. There are exceptions such as the real launch of the Internet, cell-phones and a few other things.

I was recently reading The Guinness book of records of the future and it listed many of the tech advancements people are currently working on. There were many things like motion sensing computers which operate under a flick of a hand, space travel to places outside our Solar System, mobile phones that show the callers face, thought e-mail, but the most impressive and weirdest thing was thought operated computers!!!!!! Imagine, on the net browsing, and suddenly thinking you'll nip to B&Q and get a new chair, all of a sudden B&Q websites, chair advertisements and many other things flash up on your screen!! WEIRD!!!

With the recent launch of broadband internet, people can fully explore the net though such possibilities as waiting for a movie to download on a 56k modem (which I have). It can be as frustrating as betting 1 million pounds on Manchester to beat Burnley, and then finding out Burnley won!! So of course you are bound to give up after a while. (Just think about what 28k would be like. Our CVN editor has that!)

Look at game consoles like PS2 and Xbox, both amazing consoles with advantages, the tech under PS2's bonnet is extremely powerful. In fact the first rocket was not as powerful as N64!!! So just look what has happened over the past 30 years!!

Tech obviously is going to advance over the coming generations, seeing movies like Terminator worries some people as they think the future will be war, and nothing but war. You may say "oh no, it won't." but who knows? I don't believe in fortune tellers and old frail women who stare at your hand for hours, they just don't work for me. For all we know, tomorrow. aliens could crash land on earth with technology not even dreamed of by Einstein.
