BD/BL Appreciation Day
This Block Deputy/Block Leader Appreciation Day Event commenced on Sunday 22nd May at 2pm in City Hall in Cybertown.
[City Mayor] Jolinth [50514] : I'd like to start off with a little note from Hawk
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate what you do in keeping the community active and I want to voice my support for the jobs that you do that are the vital bedrock of the CT social
hierarchy. Hopefully you yourselves will move up the ranks of that hierarchy and become NL's and even CL's, and when you do I know that you'll also come to appreciate the fine work
that is done daily by BL's and BD's.
You are very much appreciated by myself, other IVN/Cybertown staff and other members.

Sci-Fi
[Colony Leader] stone_98 [44754] : The BLs and BDs in Cybertown can have an effect beyond what many people think. These are the people that most often directly contact the residents
in town and the ones that can do the most to set the atmosphere for their communities. We are seeing more and more people coming in as visitors and new immigrants and your role is
becoming even more vital.
We want to keep these people coming back and the best way to ensure that is to have good people welcoming them and helping them get started.
Congratulations to all those being recognized here today and thanks to all those who serve in these roles.
Now for our nominees
For BL, We have asked that Kit10Ish be recognized
Kit10Ish has been a hard working BL in SciFi Creations for a long time. Even though her skill and experience could justify a promotion, she has held on to her BL job, working hard even
during difficult times to keep things moving.
It is this kind of dedication that we see so often in town and I'm glad we can recognize it today. And, as an example of her leadership, she has nominated Purring_Kitten as BD
In Kit's words: I want to show my appreciation to Purring_Kitten, SBD for Cats Eye Nebula in SFC. It has been a rough year for this BL, and without Purring_Kitten, Cats Eye would have
fallen to the wayside.
[Colony Leader] stone_98 [44754] : When I was unable to be in CT, with no contact available on my end, Purring kept everything going, even without information as to why I had suddenly
disappeared into a black hole. Without Purring_Kitten's loyalty, our block would have died. Thank you, Purring, for all the hard work and care you have given us.
Adventure
[Colony Leader] Rane36 [22480] : Afternoon All! I had a whole thing to say, but since us Adventurers are known to be long winded (love you and miss you Vitalone! giggles) I decided to
keep it short. =) And I think those before me said everything I wanted or could say. Before I announce the recipients from Adventure I personally would like to Congratulate ALL the Block
Leaders and Block Deputies! You all are an integral part of Cybertown and we appreciate everything you do! Adventure Colony is proud to present three winners of this prestigious
award......
Shady_Lady, Block Leader of Emerald City, Journey Hood. She's amazing! (by the way folks her hood is almost completely FULL minus one!!)
Shady is very dedicated to Cybertown, involved in many aspects with in the Colony and she is just a hoot to talk to! =)
Missy_Pat, Block Leader of Victorian Age, Gates of Time Hood.
Missy is an avid collector of bears, she loves to make time to sit, chat play games and
mellow out with some tea, just don't bring her coffee! *gasps* BTW she's in Greece on vacation and stopped by today to say HI
Pete_dafeet, Block Leader of Lost Coast, Wilderness Hood. He's very active and loves to post messages full of charm and wit. Pete is also very generous (especially with his NL's ATM
card! LOL) you can find him floating through Wilderness quite frequently sharing the pin number.
CONGRATULATIONS to these Block Leaders, you are all Awesome and make Adventure as well as Cybertown PROUD!

they put in. without them we wouldn't have future NDs NLs, CDs or CLs. the job is often overlooked, so to those who choose to take it on, I want to say a big thank you. Cyberhood only
has one BL nominee this year. we would like to honor leksikon. leks has put forth a tremendous amount of work for her block, and has really done a lot to try to bring life back not only to her block but our colony as well... so from all of us at ch.. thank you big time leks
Inner Realms

[Colony Leader] Karyll [53033] : Most everyone here has been a BL or BD at one time, and so know the hard work that is put into every "shift". We want you to know how appreciated you ALL are.
Now for this part, we only have two nominees for BL.(I know there is more after) And so we would like to recognize first.. Lloydcanfil He has pitched his tent in Native American of Ancient Ways since I can't remember when. Through all the changes and everything going on.. he remains steadfast. The second nomination is petite_artist as she too has remained strong, loyal and devoted to Fae and Inner Realms. We would like to recognize you both for exemplary service TO Cybertown and Inner Realms. *done for now* Wish we could
award everyone.. *S*
The Campus

[City Council] Seth_11 [37151] : When we talk about and honor our BD's and BL's we aren't commending the title that they wear ... we commend the duties that they perform for us. Can
you imagine the mess that us silly CD's and CL's would make trying to operate a block? I'm going to take a stroll down memory lane here now, to when I was a BD. can recall going into
the plaza ADMIRING anyone who wore an NL, CD or CL title and just wishing to be there. But now, being a CL, I walk through town admiring anyone who wears a BD or BL title -
because when it comes down to it, it's YOU people that we owe everything to. And accordingly, this day is ALL YOURS to all BD's and BL's who practice their positions with pride and
aid their blocks, hoods and colonies to excellence.
I would like to, from the Campus, put up two people on podiums who exhibit these qualities. The first is Accent1. Accent can be found in the Flea giving
cc's to newbies and helping them out however possible to get them on their feet. Accent truly defines "Cytonian" in the helpfulness sense . And secondly, another BL in The Campus who is quite new to CT . This individual posts around town and strives to learn as much as possible about the colony and CT . I would like to congratulate and thank noname21!!!!! on his
tenure and service as BD .. and new promotion to BL!! Again, everything I have said has been with sincerity (yes, even "silly CL's") - so thanks to all BDs and BLs :)
9th Dimension

[Colony Deputy] erikwas [21570] : Well what can we say? This event is for the unsung heroes of CT. The people who continually support some of the transparent requirements that make CT whole for all the citizens. These are the people who keep those of us in some of the upper ranks, who may appear somewhat out of touch at times . in touch with our citizenry and the people who are most important . 9D has only one nominee today but they have shown a continued effort to breath life into our colony. A single shining light at the present on our MBs
that brighten all our days. so it is with great honor I nominate someone who has the skill to be much more but has chosen to serve 9D as a BL . Congratulations go to Webula
But to each and every BL & BD, remember your work has always been noticed and appreciated although sometimes we fail to show it, you have our respect.

[Colony Leader] Borg7_of_9 [41320] : BD/BL Appreciation Day is one of my all time favorite events! It gives us a chance to recognize some of our City's true heroes!
I'm sure you've heard that our BD's and BL's are the bedrock and foundation of our Colonies... and it is true... I think we are blessed to have some very excellent BD's and BL's among us right now! I enjoy working with them what ever chance I get . I can't help but be reminded of my days as a BD, and then a BL, and how exciting those times were!
And I enjoy watching our BD's and BL's, and watching them grow! And I usually learn something new by watching them, too! A total and complete joy, and I appreciate every moment of it! So a huge thank you, to all of our BD's and BL's, for being such an important part of the team that makes our City such a pleasure to be in! :)) Please join me in congratulating Amph12 for BD, and morgretha for BL.

[Sponsor IC] Jason_RC [31854] : ok...before I carry on, I’m gonna take my usual time out to bore you all senseless. Does anyone remember the words that I shared with you all at the last of
these events? ... no response...that's good, than I can use them again :-) For me, the role of the BL and BD is one that people all too often look at and do not understand or take too lightly.
People often only see bigger and more important sounding titles and a lot seem to aspire to those... I often see people having conversations where they say things like "I am only a BL" or
"I am just a BD". It reminds me of conversations that you sometimes see in RL where people say things like "I am only a teacher" or "I am just a nurse". I always think to myself, how can they say things like that...
Without teachers where would our future be? They mould and shape hearts and minds and develop future generations impacting on all of our futures. They
touch the lives of people and are remembered by them forever. The same applies to nurses. Without them where would we be? They care for us when we are at our most vulnerable and save thousands of lives every year. They do a difficult job, often without proper financial recognition, yet touch the lives of us all. In a similar way I think to myself, without BLs and BDs where would Cybertown be?
They welcome new members and are often the first contact a new resident has with anyone in Cybertown. They help people settle in, show them how things fit together, nurture them, make friends and encourage people to become involved and active. They are the ones who truly get to know the residents and easily make new friendships through performing their roles.
All these long words are simply my way of saying, thank you for the roles you do and the jobs you do for our community.
the first citizen nominated award is for a BD who "is always keen to take part and become involved. Even though she lives in a quiet block, it does not stop her from making a lot of noise
to get people motivated."
