Here is what YOU can do to help:
Hawk and CVN URGE you to read the entire Strategic Guidance document. Hawk says:
I must admit I'm not a fan of the "summary" approach below because the article was written carefully in a specific sequence so that they'd have all the necessary info to fully understand before they read the list of what to do. I believe that just seeing the list of what to do without the information/reasoning behind it could put a lot of people off.
"1) Donate what you can to keep Cybertown here while sponsorships and hosting are obtained. Information on how to do this - as well as a lot of other useful resources - is at Weekly News Survival Guide
2) Find an ISP or hosting company willing to sponsor the hosting of Cybertown (in return for sponsorship benefits as listed earlier). The specs of Cybertown's hosting needs are:
2 servers - each is dual PIII/2x450 mhz with 1-2 GBs of RAM running Linux - each needs a 40GB hard drive.
The site gets up to 120 million hits a month and peak bandwidth usage is 3-5Mb/s with total monthly file transfers of 4-500 GB.
3) FIND SPONSORS! You will receive a 10% commission for any sponsor that you close. Better yet, become a Sponsor yourself.
4) Find philanthropists who would be willing to help fund Cybertown because of its social betterment functions.
5) Interest Universities and other educational institutes in funding research into the social dynamics of virtual online cultures and communities.
6) Interest potential investors in funding Cybertown NG. Finder fees will be paid.
7) Contact the media - TV, magazines, radio, newspapers etc. about the remarkable benefits that Cybertown provides for its members as listed at the beginning as well as the fact that it may be taken offline
8) Let me know if you'd truly be willing to pay a monthly subscription fee to keep Cybertown here.
9) Research and report on the grants and non-profit status requirements and realities.
10) Get other members involved in 1)-9).
Let's work together and save this wonderful and unique co-creation of ours!

"Thanks. These "what CT means to me" write-ups are very moving and I believe
I could use them to help secure future grants for CT - so keep them coming :)

"I'd recommend backing up everything that you can as it seems that the engineers in Munich were a little too late and when they went to do the database backup they found that the ISP had locked them out. We should know the real situation in a few days but right now it looks like worst case is we have database backups until last March and best case may be April 29th."
