Sentinel News

Editor Proclamation

Isn't proclamation a pretty word. It even sounds serious. This page and edition of he Sentinel will represent our first Sentinel dedicated page of the new year. With all the craziness that has gone on in the past several weeks with weather, illness, holidays, computer problems, etc., now perhaps we can get back to normal.

Our goal will be to bring you at least three news stories each week that we think might interest you, our readers. We've been experimenting with email requests for stories, Facebook private messages, and posting story requests when we copy/past our URLS on Facebook. It seems like emails work best.

We encourage any reader to submit news, whether it is personal, general observations, or even questions. We'd be delighted to even receive suggestions. We really want you to think of The Sentinel as YOUR news page. We will be glad to add usable links, create new pages, do whatever we can, to make this news source page fun for you. -jdb

Writer’s Digest Contest

by jdb_educator
We do have a few writers in our group, so: Writer’s Digest announces the 22nd Annual Self-Published Book Awards. WD calls it "the premier competition that shines a spotlight on the works of self-published authors."

As is becoming true of most competitions these days, you have to pay for the privilege. Entry fees apply. The site page tells prospective contestants that "Early-bird entry fees are $99 for the first entry, and $75 for each additional entry." http://www.writersdigest.com/competitions/selfpublished

A few fun searches

by jdb_educator
I figure we all use search engines, but I've been wrong before. It might even be remotely possible that I will be wrong one or two times in the future! Nevertheless, I pursue fun and encourage you to do the same.

Storm Posted

She posted this message on FB:
"Finally added a new blog post on 3DPNet about Storm and the crew. Sorry I left it on a bit on a cliffhanger but promise I won't make you wait two months before continuing the story! I am short a few crew members so if anyone's interested let me know and the role you would like to play in the stories. Thanks. ~STORM~ ~~~ December 29, 2013 at 7:28pm
We read her first blog post and added a comment to those already there. This looks to be a fun story.

Cookie Recipes

We decided to leave the cookie section up for another week, before we move recipes on this page to the recipe page.

Medeusa's page takes up Cookies, as promised!

Cookies and Updates!
by Cichlid, Sentinel Photographer, author, and reporter

Well let me see. Okay I have has a very busy these past few weeks. I have my edits all finally done on Captured by Fate. Just waiting for the approval stage then my book will be paper back YA!! It can be purchased through, nook, amazon and createspace. I am designing my blog for the release as well.

For Christmas, had a little stumble with the unemployment, but hopefully that is worked out. I plan on taking my mom and daughter out shopping soon. Should be, well, interesting.

I have a great yummy desert to share, Called Oreo Cookie dessert. I have been making it for years. I see there are all kinds of different ways to make it now.

1 16 oz pkg Oreo cookies
1 8 oz cream cheese
2 16 oz pkg cool whip
1 stick butter
1 can chocolate pudding (can be found in baking area pie filling section)

Take out 5 cookies and save for topping. Finely crush rest of cookies. Melt butter and mix into crushed cookies. Spread out in baking dish. Let cool.

Combine 1 cool whip and cream cheese. Blend well. If you don't you will get little chunks of cream cheese. Spread over top cookie mixture.

Take chocolate pudding spread over cream cheese mixture.

Takes other cool whip spread over chocolate pudding. Do carefully or it will mix all up.

Take remaining cookies crush and sprinkle on top. Chill or eat right away.

Poor lonely, no updates, page! *sniff sniff*CVN Recipes.

Despicable Me 2(2013) A fun follow up to the original. My wife and I watched it while taking breaks to view the world series.

Monster University (2013) Touching, sweet, and still filled with adventure and laughs.
